OUT & ABOUT
As much or as little as you fancy…
The Forest of Dean & Wye Valley has it all!
ATTRACTIONS & ACTIVITIES
Stroll down the lane to St Anthony’s Well or take a walk into the ancient woodland behind the cabin – there is a myriad of footpaths that can be taken directly off site. Why not bring your bicycle (or hire one and have it delivered to site) and use one of the many cycle routes in the Forest.
A five minute drive away you can enjoy wild swimming in the river Wye or, if you don’t fancy getting your hair wet, why not hire a canoe for the day?
Too active? Need to be kneaded? We have an award winning cookery school in the village – Harts Barn Cookery School. There are so many things to do whilst in the Forest.
Where do we start? There are just so many beautiful walks. All cabins have an OS ranger map that could give you a different walk everyday for about a year. We have some great trails including Offas Dyke Path and the Gloucestershire Way.
There is even a new 50 mile Leaf Peeping Driving Guide for autumn guests.
With all the wonderful cycle paths and trails in the Forest of Dean, why not bring your bike? Here at The Roost we are perfectly placed for a great cycling weekend with routes suitable for all abilities. We have a lockable bike shed with bike racks plus a bike wash area. Don’t fancy bringing your bike with you? Wye Bikes will delivery a bike to your cabin for you!
Everyone’s favourite pass time! Take a look at our “Little Extras” for some other lovely treats to order for your stay.
Mitcheldean boasts two microbreweries, Jolter Press and The Bespoke Brewing Co (both have tap rooms open on Friday & Saturday nights) and are well worth a visit.
There are also some really great restaurants all within a short drive of the cabins. Download our handpicked guide to great places to eat locally during your stay.
